Belonging, Diversity, Equity
& Inclusion at BPI

At BPI, we are committed to the values of belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion. We strive to create a climate where equity and mutual respect are fundamental by:

  • Celebrating the richness of our diverse community;
  • Educating ourselves about inequities and disparities that affect health and healthcare delivery;
  • Recruiting and supporting the advancement of a workforce that reflects the racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the people we serve;
  • Creating opportunities that enrich the lives of our patients, students, and colleagues;
  • Challenging barriers that interfere with these goals and holding each other accountable when we fall short.

The Belonging, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee of Brown Physicians Inc., meets monthly to plan educational and community engagement programs, discuss opportunities to improve equity in our workplace and training environments, review data pertaining to progress towards our BEDI mission, and coordinate with others engaged in similar efforts across our complex academic healthcare system. Our subcommittees include: BEDI Education, Training Matters, Workplace Environment, Community Engagement, and Cultural Celebrations.
