We are pleased to announce the appointment of Aurora D. Pryor, MD, MBA, as Chair of the Department of Surgery at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Surgeon-in-Chief at Rhode Island and The Miriam Hospitals, and President of Brown Surgical Associates.

Dr. Pryor is a globally recognized expert in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. She previously served as Surgeon-in-Chief at Long Island Jewish Hospital and System Director for Bariatric Surgery at Northwell Health. Dr. Pryor earned her medical degree and completed her residency and fellowship at Duke University. She has held leadership roles at Duke, Stony Brook University, and Northwell Health.

She succeeds William Cioffi, MD, who retired after over 20 years of dedicated service. We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Pryor to Providence and thank Dr. Cioffi for his invaluable contributions.
